The Netherlands are a perfect destination for boating holidays. One sees the true nature of the country from its countless waterways. Towns, villages, mills or bridges built along the canal are mirrored in the water. You will cruise through landscapes which inspired numerous famous Dutch painters. You’ll enjoy the warmth and "joie de vivre" of the Dutch in the Cafés along the canals, and visit shops and cellars in the old houses of Utrecht or Amsterdam.

  • Going through locks

    Locks and lifting bridges are very well maintained. Often, you will be asked to pay a small toll, usually between 4 and 6 €. The yacht harbours which you will find in most towns also charge for overnight stops. Before 15 April and after 15 October the locks and bridges are closed on some canals on Sundays. It is essential to check your cruising plans with the base during these periods.

  • Festivals and events

    The gardens of Keukenhof (mid-March, mid-May) are displaying some 7 million tulips, daffodils, hyacinths and other bulbs.
    National Windmill Days ( 11 & 12 May 2019) : Over 950 mill owners open their doors to the public.
    Amsterdam Canal Festival - Grachten festival - (9 - 18 August 2019) : Over 160 concerts around the canals.

  • Display gardens at Keukenhof

    Keukenhof is and will remain for a long time the international and independent showcase of the Dutch floricultural industry, with a special emphasis on flowering bulbs. A "must see" if your're cruising between 21 March and 19 May 2019.

  • Mooring in Amsterdam

    At Amsterdam the marina is very central, but still quiet. It is opposite the station. (ferry every 10 minutes night and day. Taking a Pénichette® through the city's canals is the best way to see the place. The city council of Amsterdam is not charging mooring fee any longer. You will still have to pay if you decide to stay at a marina.

where to cruise?

North and South Holland, Amsterdam Aboard your self drive boat, you will cross the great “broad” of Loosdrecht, dotted with untouched islands, and then follow the course of the river Vecht. Sailing to the north, you will reach the great capital city of Amsterdam, its magnificent architecture and world class museums. Further north, near Edam, you cross the Zaan country, full of windmills and rich in wildlife. If your barging cruise leads you to the South, the great art city of Utrecht will be one of the must see of your boating holidays! The rest of your canal cruise unfolds through the timeless Dutch countryside: lifting bridges, dykes, and the magic light of dawn. Q good reason to get up early.

how much?

There are boats for all budgets: Price starts as low as 134 Euros / day for a traditional Penichette Classic 935 (2 to 5 persons). Our largest and most modern penichette 15.00 Flying bridge accommodating 8 to 12 people will cost 417 Euros / day in low season. A deposit of 40% is required to book and the balance is due 60 days prior departure.

how to choose?

Choosing the right boat is important to make sure you'll have a life time memory cruise. Don't get misled by the maximum number of passengers on board. It's good practice to limit the number of guests on board to the number of permanent berths in cabins and avoid using the convertible folding table as additional sleeping area. We know our boats well, we will help you selecting the perfect boat.

when to book?
