Normandy Landing Beaches
Mont Saint Michel
Saint Malo, Deauville
and
the Bayeux Tapestry
Pay
homage to the Allied Forces from the Second World War. A sense of
reverence and awe will overwhelm you as you see the D Day Landing
Beaches. The momentous day of June 6, 1944 will become a reality
to you when you visit the beaches, explore the bunkers, visit the
extraordinary Caen Museum and walk the seemingly endless, eerie
avenues of graves in the American War Cemetery which overlooks the
infamous Omaha Beach. For a trip much further back in time you will
experience the medieval world of Mont Saint Michel, a tidal island
and a UNESCO listed world heritage site. As you climb the spiralling
cobbled roads, you enter a an ancient township which in Roman times
was a fortification then in the 8th Century AD became a monastery.
Worlds of commerce gave way to monastic prayer as you climb to the
pinnacle of the mountain. Be stunned by the size, intricacy and
detail of the famous Bayeux Tapestry, which depicts the events of
the Norman Conequest, in the ancient city of Bayeux. Also visit
Saint Malo, a walled port city on the English Channel. In the Middle
Ages, St Malo was a fortified island which was the home to pirates,
thieves and rogues. All true highlights of your time in Normandy.
