on board

itinerary - Rogny-les-Sept-Ecluses to St-Saturnin

SUNDAY - Rogny-les-Sept-Ecluses

Guests are met at the designated meeting point in Paris and transferred by private chauffeured minibus to the spacious Renaissance where a Champagne welcome with canapés awaits you and you meet the Captain and crew. Time enough to explore the village of Rogny-les-Sept-Ecluses and admire the 350-year-old 7 lock-flight nearby, before dinner on board.

MONDAY - Chatillon-sur-Loire to La Gazonne

Morning visit to a renowned winery, Henry Bourgeois in Sancerre for a tour and tasting. This medieval hilltop village overlooks a vibrant and pulsating region which has known viticulture since Roman times. After lunch we enjoy an afternoon cruise to La Gazonne, a beautiful mooring surrounded by lakes and ponds with the Seine River on one side and the Saone River on the other. Dinner on board.

TUESDAY - La Gazonne to Rogny-les-Sept-Ecluses

A morning cruise to the village of Rogny-les-Sept-Ecluses. After lunch, today’s excursion is to the 1000 year old Chateau de Saint Fargeau. In 980, Héribert, Auxerre's bishop and biological son of King Hugues Capet, built this fortified hunting meeting place. Dinner on board.

WEDNESDAY - Rogny-les-Sept-Ecluses to Chatillon-Coligny

After a leisurely breakfast of fresh croissants, baguettes and assorted pastries we visit Gien, home of the Faience pottery. Afternoon cruise to Chatillon-Coligny with houses, battlements, moats and towers dating from the 16th century. The park of the Chateau de Coligny has the oldest orangery in France. Dinner ashore at the Michelin starred Auberge des Templiers in Les Bezards.

THURSDAY - Chatillon Coligny to Montbouy

We leave Chatillon-Coligny this morning for a gentle cruise to Montbouy. This afternoon we visit Chateau Sully sur Loire. The castle originally belonged to Georges de la Trémoïlle, who infuriated Joan of Arc by encouraging the Dauphin to devote himself to idle hunting in the forests around Sully. After Joan's failure to liberate Paris 1430, de la Trémoïlle imprisoned her in the castle. In the 18th century, Voltaire, exiled from Paris, also spent time at the Château. Dinner on board.

FRIDAY - Montbouy to Montargis

We enjoy a morning cruise through Little Venice, past flower-bedecked bridges and medieval watercourses joining France’s oldest canal. The cruise takes us through the Loire countryside with opportunities for cycling along the towpath. Our visit this afternoon is to the splendid Château de Fontainebleau. It is the only royal and imperial château to have been continuously inhabited for seven centuries. To walk through this palace is to walk through the history of France and every French royal family has added its own architectural style and features when in residence. Captain’s Farewell Dinner on board.

SATURDAY - Montargis
After breakfast we return you to the designated drop off point

On alternate weeks the cruise will be in the reverse direction. This is a sample itinerary and is subject to change.
